Augmented Reality Event Venue Visualization Application

  • An augmented reality application designed to enhance the user experience by guiding them through entertainment venues while providing real-time insights into available amenities.

Our research on augmented reality and competitive analysis was crucial in identifying market opportunities and differentiating our target. The real value, however, came from early user interviews, which provided actionable insights into user needs. These were further validated through online surveys, enabling us to optimize the feature set for a more streamlined and market-ready product, ensuring alignment with both user expectations and business objectives.

Early research explorations & testing provide valuable direction for prototype iterations

Timing allowed for unmoderated user testing, which resulted in valuable feedback that led to improvements, simplifying the interface.

  • User interviews: Aimed at gaining insights into personas' perceptions of augmented reality, as well as their level of understanding and familiarity with the technology.

  • Surveys helped to provide a broader cross-section of user comprehension, helping to build-out features that were intuitive.

User journey and task-based usability testing help solidify direction for seat-location assistance

The team designated the first user task generated to be locating the event at a specific venue, and the directions to their specific seat from the parking lot.

95% of participants completed our test without major issues or inquiries.

The only challenge encountered was locating the ticket information:

  • Some participants expected it to be in the main menu

  • The others were simply confused about its location

User testing on prototype reveals

The low fidelity prototype revealed that the intro screen was confusing to users. We cleaned this up and changed some verbiage to assist navigation.

  • In our mid-fidelity prototype, we developed AR screens and a simplified 2D interface to meet diverse user needs and device capabilities.

  • Many test participants try to visit venue facilities on the way to their seat, so we added the functionality in a simple pull-up menu.
